This Privacy Policy explains what information NicheSee ("we", "us") collects, how we use it, and the choices you have. It covers the NicheSee website (nichesee.com), our API, and the NicheSee browser extension.

1. What we collect

Website & service. If you create an account, we store the email address and credentials you provide. We collect basic technical logs (IP address, browser type, requested pages) needed to operate and secure the service.

Browser extension. The extension processes only publicly available content of YouTube pages you visit, specifically:

• public identifiers of videos and channels (e.g. video ID, channel ID);
• public statistics shown on the page (views, subscriber counts, upload dates);
• presence of public interface elements (e.g. whether a channel displays a membership button);
• a randomly generated, anonymous installation identifier used for rate limiting and abuse prevention. It is not linked to your identity or your Google account.

2. What we do NOT collect

• your browsing history outside youtube.com;
• your YouTube search queries, watch history, subscriptions, or account data;
• page content from any website other than YouTube;
• passwords, cookies, payment details, or government identifiers;
• any special categories of personal data.

3. How we use the information

• to maintain an aggregate research database of publicly available YouTube metadata (channels, videos, niches, trends);
• to show research insights in the extension overlay and on our website;
• to operate, secure, and improve the service (rate limiting, abuse prevention, debugging).

We do not sell personal information. We do not use collected data for advertising. Data collected by the extension is used or transferred only for the user-facing features described here, in accordance with the Chrome Web Store Limited Use requirements.

4. Your choices

• The extension includes a setting to disable background data collection while keeping the overlay features ("overlay only" mode).
• You can uninstall the extension at any time; collection stops immediately.
• You may request access to or deletion of data associated with your account or installation identifier by contacting us (see below).

5. Data sharing

We do not share personal information with third parties, except service providers that host our infrastructure (cloud hosting, DNS/CDN), which process data on our behalf, and cases required by law. Aggregated, non-personal statistics about public YouTube content may appear in our product.

6. Data retention

Technical logs are kept for a limited period needed for security and debugging. Aggregate public YouTube metadata is retained as part of our research database. Anonymous extension events are retained in raw form for up to 12 months, after which they may be deleted or fully aggregated.

7. Children

Our services are not directed to children under 13 (or the applicable age of digital consent), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.

8. Third-party services

Our products display and analyze publicly available data from YouTube. YouTube is a trademark of Google LLC; NicheSee is not affiliated with or endorsed by Google or YouTube. Your use of YouTube itself is governed by YouTube's own terms and privacy policy.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The current version is always available at this page; material changes will be reflected in the "Last updated" date above.
